Chris Manning, Editor-in-Chief
Local “hipster” Chris Manning is a senior at Brunswick and the editor-in-chief of The Devilier. As the editor, he is looking to take the publication to the next level. Only eighteen, Chris’s soul is much older, as he spends his days drinking black coffee, playing Scrabble, and reading Ernest Hemingway novels. Due to his old age, he is also the grandfather in his group of friends, known around town as the Ducks. He plans on attending Ohio University and the Scripps School of Journalism next fall to major in print journalism with the ultimate goal of writing for Rolling Stone. Mindy McGoughran, Assistant Editor
Mindy is a city girl at heart who is caffeine crazed and loves her Starbucks. She has been a part of Journalism for 2 years and is Assistant Editor of the Devilier. She has been a completive cheerleader for 7 years. She loves New York City and hopes to attend college there and one day live there as well. Mindy would like to go into Journalism or Fashion Merchandising, and her dream job would be to work for Vogue.
Erin Zaranec, Reporter
Self proclaimed Sex and the City and Starbucks addict, BHS junior Erin Zaranec is currently in her first year with the program. Also involved in Link Crew and Yearbook, Erin hopes to stay involved in the school. Stalked by fellow staff member Elexa Petrovic, they two have been inseperable for five years now. Her future goal is to attend the Scripps School of Journalism at OU but for now spends her time savin’ lives and teaching kids to swim at the Medina Rec.
Brittany Toth, Reporter
Brittany will be 18 in October and can’t wait to be on her own. She works at Stardust and is a senior at BHS! She is a member of the dance team and has been dancing since she was 3 years old. It is her passion and what she spends most of her time doing. Brittany loves to travel with her family and purple is her favorite color. She loves sports and her favorite team is Dallas. Once she gets out of high school she hopes to attend the University of Toledo majoring in sports science and minoring in nutrition, as well as taking part in the Toledo Rockets Dance Team. After college she wants to work for a professional football or basketball team training and exercising the players and keeping them healthy.
Elexa Petrovic, Reporter
Elexa has been going to BHS for three years now. She’s involved in Link and reps the Bowling team jersey. She is inspired by Mr. Dickson, her 10th grade American World teacher. She watches Spongebob in her free time. Erin Zaranec is her brother from another mother. She works at Maria Gardens in North Royalton, and loves every bit of it. She has the same birthday as Whoppi Golberg and dreams of someday marrying the one and only Elvis Presley.
Kaitlyn Pesci, Reporter
Kaitlyn, a seventeen year old senior is entering her first year of Journalism. She cheers for Varsity football, basketball and the competition team for BHS.S he currently hostesses at Applebees in Strongsville and enjoys her job very much. After high school she plans to pursue her dreams of becoming a registered nurse working in the emergency room. Although if nursing was not to work out, she would definitely go into the Journalism field.
Jacob Musal, Reporter
Jacob ‘Stink’ Musal, local tough guy, is in his first year on the Devilier staff. While he is away from the parchment and quill he occupies his time attempting to perfect his unity with the force. The general public often compares his pod racing skills to that of Anakin Skywalker. You may see him around town shoving kids in his denim jacket, as this is a hobby of his. His favorite meal is raw nails. He strives to make an impression on the world and hopes that writing for this publication will lead him on his way towards that goal. Josh Monaco, Reporter
Josh is the Little Monster of Journalism and brings Lady Gaga to our daily lives. He is Vice President of Student Council, a member of the yearbook staff, a LINK Leader, and a member of the National Honor Society. Josh just got a job at EXPRESS and loves to go shopping for designer deals. Josh was recently accepted to Savannah College of Art and Design and plans to study advertising and graphic design. He hopes to design all of the billboards in Times Square one day. Josh brings his design aspect to everything he does and loves to create many different things.
Kara Maloney, Reporter
Kara is a Senior at BHS and entering her first year of Journalism. She was born on December 9th and is seventeen years old. She enjoys playing volleyball, shopping and spending time with her family and friends. She works at Dairy Queen and makes a mean good blizzard. Her favorite subject in school is Language Arts because she loves to write. After high school, she plans on attending Ohio University and majoring in special education. After college, she plans on moving to North Caroling to pursue her career.
Rachel Hunter, Reporter
Rachel is entering her senior year at BHS. She is evolved in NHS, key club and is a commissioner for link crew. She work at the local nursing home connecting people with their lost loved ones. Rachel in the captain of the girls golf team and in the future she want to go to OSU and work in the offices of a professional baseball team.
Beth Helbley, Reporter
Beth Helbley enjoys long walks on the beach and candle light dinners. She can often be found saving puppies or helping old ladies across the street. She is a reality T.V extraordinaire. In her spare time she enjoys hanging out with her grandma. Her plans for the future include the University of Toledo and a double major in marketing and professional sales.
Allison Haynes, Reporter
Allison is a junior at Brunswick High School. She plays tennis and is involved in Huddle, National Honor Society, and Yearbook. Outside of school Allison plays piano and dances. She plans to attend college but is undecided on which major.
Callahan Gore, Reporter
Callahan is young and sweet only 17 and this is her first year in Journalism. She is a cheerleader for Varsity Football, Basketball and competition team. She’s also involved in Student Council and Link Crew. Outside of school she volunteer coaches Crestview cheer and dance team and the Rockets, which is a special needs cheer team. You can also find her working at Panini’s. She enjoys spending time with family and friends. After High School she plans on going to Ohio University.
Angela Gerlach, Reporter
Angela is a senior at BHS. She loves writing and drawing, but is looking to do something that would help people, which is why she is going to Ohio State University to study speech pathology. After undergraduate school she plans on joining the Peace Corps and then move back home to finish schooling to eventually get a Ph.D. Angela would love to earn enough money to buy a Bugatti and own 2 horses as well as donating a significant amount of money to animal shelters around the world, to save all the puppies.
Sarah Gati, Reporter
Sarah is a senior at Brunswick High School, and this is her first year on the Devilier staff. At school she s involved in huddle and link crew. She does a lot of volunteer work at the SPCA animal shelter and at St. Ambrose day school, where she helps choreograph their annual musical. In her spare time, she enjoys horseback riding, canoeing, hiking, and hanging out with her friends.
Emily Dushek, Reporter
What can be said about Emily Ann Dushek? She is essentially your basic girl of 17, minus 4 parts stupid, plus 7 parts individuality, and plus 5 parts psycho, which makes for 1 whole person of full-out, kick-butt, action-packed awesomeness. She can often be found doing stuff for school or with friends, being crazy with her little sister, watching movies or TV, going to concerts, et cetera. On that note, her favorite movie is Clue, her favorite shows are Criminal Minds and That 70’s Show, and the best band ever is The Matches. Her goals in life are to be on Ellen and to move to Spain. She would like to encourage you to have a wonderful day.
Emily Dralle, Reporter
Emily brings her love of writing to the journalism staff. She is also a yearbook editor, a LINK Crew commissioner, and a dance team captain. Emily enjoys wearing flowers in her hair and watching any Real Housewives series. When she grows up, Emily wants to be an English teacher and eventually the principal of BHS. Her influences are Ms. Marcu and Mrs. Raglow.
Alexander “Doby” Dobriansky, Reporter
As a first year Journalism student, Alex, known by most of the student population as Doby, is more than stoked to be a part of the Devilier staff. At school, Doby is involved in LINK Crew, Student Council, a member on the Yearbook staff and is the Class of 2012 Class President. In his free time he enjoys hanging out with his friends, listening to music, and riding his snowboard. His future plans include obtaining a degree in Finance from a highly respected university, getting a job on Wall Street, and causing the next economic disaster. His favorite movie is the Social Network, and whenever he does something substantial, the theme song from D2: The Mighty Ducks plays. He works at Buehler’s. Swag. Kristina Deenanat, Reporter
Kristina was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and moved out to Brunswick when she was about 4 years old. She is a very fun person to be around when she has the opportunity but when it comes to business she knows when to focus and be her shy quiet self. Kristina has been playing soccer for the past 11 year. She is a very active girl and doesn’t like to do anything that’s boring. Though she is very quiet at times she’s very friendly and a people person who loves to always help out. Her mind has a lot of creative thoughts floating around and would always spare time to put them on paper. She loves writing and and drawing but yet still doesn’t know what she wants to do after high school.

Christina, a Junior, is excited to be a part of Journalism this year. She is on the Girls Tennis team for BHS. She loves to dance and her favorite color is pink. Christina has played piano for ten years and played in four contests. She is involved in National Honor Society, Huddle and Yearbook.
